Vicon and Lux Machina outfit Martin Scorsese Virtual Production Centre (Inavate)

Motion capture technology provider Vicon and VFX consultant Lux Machina have teamed up to deliver advanced motion capture technology at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts’ Martin Scorsese Virtual Production Centre in Brooklyn. The facility, part of the school’s new Virtual Production degree program, is equipped with Vicon’s Shogun entertainment software and 40 Vicon cameras to provide students with a cutting-edge motion capture system. Vicon’s involvement in this project reflects its commitment to education and the development of future digital creatives.

Vicon and Lux Machina have a long-standing collaboration, with both companies playing key roles in virtual production for major projects like The Mandalorian and Barbie. The new centre at NYU includes two double-height stages, television studios, post-production labs, and more, positioning it as a world-class facility for innovation in virtual production. India Vadher-Lowe, head of motion capture at Lux Machina, emphasized how these technologies will open new possibilities for creative workflows, pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved in motion capture.
