Disney to stop using Salesforce-owned Slack after hack exposed company data: Report (MSN)

The Walt Disney Company is phasing out Slack as its primary workplace collaboration tool following a massive data breach attributed to the hacking group NullBulge. This breach led to the unauthorized release of over a terabyte of Disney’s internal data, including computer code and details on unreleased projects, reportedly spanning 44 million Slack messages from various channels. CFO Hugh Johnston noted that most divisions are already transitioning to alternative, streamlined enterprise collaboration systems.

The data leak, reported by the Wall Street Journal, underscores significant security concerns as NullBulge reportedly compromises software supply chains, often through platforms like GitHub and Hugging Face, by tricking users into downloading malicious files. Disney began investigating the breach in August, while both Disney and Slack have not yet commented on the recent developments.
