Akamai Expands Guardicore Segmentation to AWS, Enhances Zero-Trust Network Access Solution (SiliconAngle)

Akamai Technologies has announced two major updates to enhance cloud security and optimize application performance. The first update extends its Guardicore Segmentation service to Amazon Web Services, providing seamless microsegmentation across multicloud and on-premises environments. This service isolates and protects critical workloads by preventing lateral threat movement and introduces agentless support for PaaS resources on AWS and Azure. With real-time network flow mapping, it enables improved visibility and collaboration between DevOps and SecOps teams while offering integrated reputation analysis and DNS firewall capabilities to reduce breach response times. Built for scalability, Guardicore ensures secure data handling and adapts to growing organizational needs.

The second update enhances Akamai’s zero-trust network access (ZTNA) solution, Enterprise Application Access, with new edge transport optimization features. Leveraging Akamai’s global edge infrastructure, the solution now includes local points of presence to reduce latency and boost download speeds, improving application performance by up to three times. This is especially beneficial for remote and hybrid work environments, as it eliminates user frustrations linked to slow application access. By embedding performance optimization into the application path, Akamai enhances reliability and supports zero-trust strategies, delivering a smoother experience for global workforces while reducing IT support demands.
