Adobe Overhauls Frame.io to Make it a Little More Trello-like (The Verge)

Adobe has significantly upgraded Frame.io, turning the cloud-based media collaboration service into a more robust workflow management platform akin to Trello or Asana with its latest release, Frame.io V4. This version, which starts rolling out to Free and Pro users on web, iPhone, and iPad, and will be available to Team and Enterprise users later this year, introduces enhanced workflow and tagging capabilities that allow for comprehensive project management within the platform itself. By integrating these new features, Frame.io aims to reduce the need for multiple applications for project management, aligning itself more closely with competitors like Iconik.

The key feature of Frame.io V4 is the new metadata framework that enhances how media can be tagged, viewed, and organized. Users now have the ability to assign custom statuses to assets, such as “delivered” or “needs revision,” and can label them with due dates or assignees, which simplifies filtering and tracking progress. Other significant improvements include the introduction of Collections for organizing views of tagged assets, a refined review and approval process with capabilities for more detailed feedback, and a suite of quality-of-life enhancements such as a redesigned asset grid and a new panel system for customizable workspace layouts. These updates aim to streamline the creative process, making project management more efficient and responsive to user needs.
